An outdoor festival featuring local food, craft beverages and music is returning for its fourth year in downtown State College.
The Downtown State College Improvement District will host Sips & Sounds from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 26, in Sidney Friedman Park.
“Sips & Sounds Downtown brings together some of the best parts of summer in Happy Valley: great local music, craft beverages, delicious food, and the chance to connect with friends and neighbors in a welcoming setting,” Lee Anne Jeffries, executive director of the DSCID, said in a statement. “We’re excited to welcome the community back for another fun-filled celebration of downtown State College.”
Timmy Tatts & Gingerman will kick things off early with an all vinyl reggae, ska and rocksteady DJ set from 3 to 5 p.m. Two local live music acts will follow with Kate & Jules performing from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. and Astral Shakedown from 7 to 9 p.m.

Last call for alcoholic beverages will be at 8:15 p.m.

Attendees are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket to set up on the open grassy space of Friedman Park, which has play areas for kids. DSCID also will have yard games on hand to add to the family fun.
A donation of $10 is suggested to help DSCID continue offering community events. Contributions can be made online.
The festival will be fenced and attendees can enter from either South Fraser Street or West Foster Avenue. D Alley alongside the park is closed to vehicles but open to pedestrians.
Free three three-hour parking validations for the Pugh, Fraser or Beaver garages will be provided upon request at the DSCID table durring the festival.
